Over time, this can cause a surface to become dull, delicate or significantly more high-maintenance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then the question arises:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Does it really need renovating straight away \u2013 or can a suitable protective treatment help?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is exactly where methods like <strong>Oiling, waxing, impregnating, coating, sealing or crystallising<\/strong> into the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They all pursue a similar goal: to protect, maintain or make the existing surface more resilient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, which treatment is sensible depends heavily on the material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cleaning and protection are not the same<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During cleaning, we remove dirt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A protective treatment goes a step further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is intended to make the surface more resistant to new stresses or to make its maintenance easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Depending on the material, this can mean:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Moisture penetrates less easily<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dirt adheres less strongly<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the surface is easier to clean<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the look is being refreshed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>mechanical loads are better absorbed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the floor is given a defined protection again<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What is important is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Not every surface needs a protective treatment \u2013 and not every protective treatment suits every surface.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is why the assessment comes first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And only after that the product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When can a protective treatment be useful?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, that does not automatically mean that every surface should be coated or sealed immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes a professional deep clean is enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes a new protective layer is indeed needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Oiling: Especially well-known for wood<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oiled wooden surfaces have a natural look and feel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, over time, the existing protection can wear off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then re-oiling can be useful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Depending on the system, the oil penetrates the wood surface and supports its protection against moisture and normal wear and tear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before doing so, however, the floor must be appropriately prepared and cleaned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Simply applying new oil to a dirty surface would be about as sensible as varnishing a dirty table and hoping nobody notices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Waxing: Combining care and protection<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wax is used as a protective and maintenance layer in certain floor and surface systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It can protect the surface against wear and tear while simultaneously influencing the appearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here, too, the deciding factors are which material is available and which products were used previously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For old care films and new systems do not automatically get on together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Therefore, before any treatment, it should be clarified what is already on the surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Impregnating: protection without sealing everything off<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During impregnation, the protective agent penetrates the porous surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The objective is often to reduce the intake of water or other liquids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This can be useful, for example, on certain natural stone or mineral surfaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The important thing is the difference to sealing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An impregnating agent generally does not simply form a closed layer on top of the surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It has a stronger effect within the material itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This makes it of interest for certain surfaces where the original appearance should be preserved as much as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sealing: A protective layer on the surface<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During a sealing process, a protective layer is formed on or over the material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This can help to protect the underlying surface from moisture, dirt and wear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Depending on the system, a sealant also alters the appearance and degree of gloss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It can therefore be practical \u2013 but should always be suited to the substrate and subsequent use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the method is not suitable for every type of stone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the case of unsuitable material, it can be ineffective or same.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Judging solely by the colour can easily lead you astray.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why a deep clean is often necessary first<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before a surface can be protected, it must be clean and properly prepared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Old care product residues, grease, dirt or unsuitable residues can negatively affect the result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Therefore, professional protective treatment often consists of several steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Assess surface<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Determine material and existing treatment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>carry out a thorough deep on and hope for the best.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By the way, that is a pretty useful motto for life, not just for floors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Good cleaning ensures cleanliness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An appropriate protective treatment
